Shimano Introduces XT 4-Piston Brake Caliper 6

Two additional pistons and 20% more power for Shimano's mid-range hydraulic stoppers.

OSAKA, Japan – Providing MTB riders with additional component solutions, Shimano has introduced a new DEORE XT 4-piston Hydraulic Brake Caliper.

Designed to offer increased braking performance to aggressive trail riders and E-MTB riders alike, the new DEORE XT BR-M8020 4-Piston Hydraulic Disc Brake Caliper provides 20-percent increased power when compared to the BR-M8000 2-piston Hydraulic Disc Brake Caliper. Compatible with the existing DEORE XT M8000 lever, the addition of the 4-piston calipers gives riders additional tuning options.

Why would someone buy these instead of Zee brakes? Doesn't seem like there can be that much of a weight difference... Seems like a bit of unnecessary range overlap?

Actually maybe (after I checked with guys at shop), there is no more any difference. Sorry for mistaking you guys. On Shimano site, Saint or XT has a note that they come with ceramic pistons while there is not a similar info on SLX (= Zee), but I was told they all have ceramic pistons. And then the difference is only lever. Anyway I would be probably still sticking to Saint / XT... they just look nicer Smile

Sure, they are not exactly the same. But the question is are they different enough to actually need to offer both options? What are the benefits of choosing the XT 4pot over the Zee? Genuinely curious.

Probably a new Zee/Saint with more power in order to be better suited against the Magura Mt7/Trickstuff Direttissima, so the Xt 4-pot will have enough difference with the Zee. Smile
