Intro Text

When the going gets tough, the tough get a pair of crutches and limp home. At least, that's what Yoann Barelli did. As for the rest of them, it was all style and air miles as they took on the bike park sections for day 2 of practice at the Rotorua EWS. Yeow!

Unfortunately not the way he would have liked to start the series. Barelli with a massive haematoma from yesterday has him sitting this one out. Look out for some live streaming from him tomorrow. - photo Sven Martin<br />
Martin Maes. Low flying squashing all the lumps and bumps of the forest, Barelli continues in audio. - photo Sven Martin
Today was a lot easier for riders and media alike. Tomorrow though looks to be another wet and wild one. Barelli in audio. - photo Sven Martin

Remember when 29'rs first came out? They def couldn't do stuff like this. Iago hitting the skies park proper dirt jumps during his lunch break. - photo Sven Martin
Jerome was flying today. When you counter steer lean a drop others were creeping down you know you are feeling confident. Iago in audio. - photo Sven Martin

A lot easier conditions today perhaps, but don't turn your back on the jungle or it will bite you back. #OOPS - shot by Sven Martin who isn't afraid to have his name on a video SHOT IN PORTRAIT MODE. #really
Do you remember the caption from yesterday? Fabien Barel really talks while riding to remember the track better. - photo @maddogboris
Fabien hucking into Stage 6 like a 16 year old shredder. Well, he's not a Downhill World Champion for nothing...- photo @maddogboris
It's no secret that Bryan Regnier likes to boost, not many were able to line up and double up these two drops with compressions. But when you did like Bryan here it was visibly a much faster way of riding this section. Barel continues in audio. - photo Sven Martin
Casey Boosting Brown sending it all the way to town, higher and further than the entire mens field on stage six. - photo Sven Martin
Justin Leov getting his bike off the trailer to continue his training on Stage 6...while Fabien Barel (in the background) is helping others to get their bike ready. #spiritofenduro - photo @maddogboris
James Shirley another one of those working class heroes of the sport making it happen for himself. He first caught my attention at Les 2 Alpes EWS with the manliest suck line and he's still at it a few years later. - photo Sven Martin
Graves will have the gas and skills to challenge on the big 64km loop tomorrow. Combined with 200m climbing it is not going to be easy, but Jared is always ready for the most physical rounds. - photo Sven Martin
Josh's smile says it all. Buzzing to be on fresh tracks every day and every round. - photo Sven Martin
Anneke Beerten gapping the roots that were still somewhat slippery today. Nearly every ledge drop and undulation has a spiderweb of roots snaking down. The safest line is often also the riskiest. - photo Sven Martin
Keagan Wright will be starting off ahead of the Women along with a few other lower seeded fast riders. Lots of attention will be on this young local Rotorua ripper, a podium wildcard maybe even the top step! - photo Sven Martin
New teammates training together and looking flat out fast. Sam Blenkinsop and Joe Smith. - photo Sven Martin
Shelley Flood from Australia loves the loamy dirt so much here across the channel in NZ that she was not afraid to throw down some scrubs and bar drags. - photo Sven Martin
Another NZ talent in both DH and Enduro, Kieran Bennett keeps it high and tight on the narrow off camber rooty bench down stage one this morning. An old pirate trail adopted into the trail system for this EWS. - photo Sven Martin
Alex Cure blending in to the greenroom here on stage six. - photo Sven Martin
Thanks to our amazing shuttle driver Eric we always made it in time to the next stage! - photo @maddogboris

The bus shuttle in Rotorua is one of a kind. We should have them everywhere in the world! - photo @maddogboris

#doyouevendriftbro? If Iago Garay is not drifting around he is smashing fast runs or sends jumps with an insane style! - photo @maddogboris
This guy who sent this jump big time isn't actually an EWS racer, he is competing in the "Challenger" race. - photo @maddogboris
Canadian downhill racer Vaev Verbeeck was pretty fast during the last day of training. Good luck to all the racers for tomorrow. Stay tuned for race action! - photo @maddogboris

Description

With all the stages open for the final day of practice, the riders wasted no time and laid siege to the forest of Whakarewarewa. The weather cooperated today, but it looks like it will be a whole other ball game for the race tomorrow...stay tuned!
